How to make a six strand braided challah:
Step 1: Divide the Dough Start by dividing your prepared challah dough into 6 equal portions. You can use a kitchen scale for accuracy if you'd like
Step 2: Roll the Strands Take each portion of dough and roll it into a long strand, about 12-15 inches in length. Ensure that all strands are of equal size.
Step 3: Arrange the Strands Place the rolled strands parallel to each other Make sure they are touching each other at one end.
Step 4: Start Braiding Here's the braiding pattern:
1 - Take the strand on the far left (Strand 6) and cross it over to the other side on the top. Bring the stand on the far right (Stand 1) over to the left side on the top. (Photos below)

2 - Take stand 6 and bring it into the middle. Then take strand 5 (the 2nd strand to the left after stand 1) and bring it over to the right side. (Photos below)

3 - Take strand 1 and bring it into the middle. (Photos below)
4 - Take strand 2 and bring it over to the far left. (Photos below)
5- Bring stand 5 into the middle. (Photos below)

6 - Repeat this alternating pattern until you reach the end of the dough.(Photos below)
Step 5: Seal the Ends Once you've finished braiding, gently pinch the ends of the strands together to seal them. (Photos below)
